What is Infrared?
Infrared radiation (IR), or infrared light, is a type of radiant energy that's invisible to human eyes but that we can feel as heat. All objects in the universe emit some level of IR radiation, but two of the most obvious sources are the sun and fire.
What is Infrared used for?
Unlike ultraviolet light - which has damaging effects upon the tissues and cells of the body - infrared light helps cells regenerate or repair themselves. The skin naturally radiates infrared heat every day. Infrared light has shown immense health benefits, from pain relief to reducing inflammation. Another use for infrared would obviously be for night-vision cameras to study human and animal heat patterns, but that’s not our purpose here!
How can Infrared help you?
Theoretically, infrared saunas are meant to penetrate the skin and burn fat, heating you up so that your body has to work harder to cool off—which people have associated with weight loss and the idea is that if you're increasing metabolic demands, you're going to burn more calories. Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, they use infrared lamps (that use electromagnetic radiation) to warm your body directly. These saunas use infrared panels instead of conventional heat to easily penetrate human tissue, heating up your body before heating up the air
